hirschhorn i do hate hierarchy, every hierarchy. In discussion with other artists, i've always felt quite alone with this position. In the alternative venue called Zonmeee, in Montreuil, where i worked for a while, there were many discussions about hierarchies, strategies and about fighting againts the museam, the system, the market, the institution. I never really understood the critique of the institution. It's important to stress that iv'e never based my work on institutional critique or the critique of commerce. I don't want to fight against, i want to fight for. I want to fight for my work. And through my work i want to confront the audience, criticism, the market, the institution, the system, the history, but it isn't an end in it's self. - taken from an interview with M. Gingeras, 04, Phaidon, Thomas Hirschhorn

The Saatchi Gallery
UNVEILED: NEW ART FROM THE MIDDLE EAST
This is a show i went to over a month ago. The gallery itself is spot on for a contempory art gallery. Their is more than enough white space -which was used wisely. The floor was interesting, it was light brown wooden strips- laminate flooring, without the laminate. It made the room feel light and airy. Between the floor and the white-board walls, a gap gave each wall a kind of boarder. The art was curated well, i kind of drifted through the exhibition. However, at one point i was in a room (gallery 13) which had work from the previous exhibition - THE REVOLOUTION CONTINUES: NEW ART FROM CHINA. I don't know whether this was a good thing or not.
